Moult
(also Moulting, Molt, Molting)
Moulting is a verb used to describe the shedding of old feathers on a bird. A bird usually moults every season or every year. The moulting process can be a slow one, because birds never shed all of their feathers at once. The birds keep enough feathers to repel moisture and to keep its body temperature normal. Moulting birds shouldn't have any bald spots, because their moulting is done gradually.
