Crèche

(Creche)

In zoology, the term "crèche" is used to refer to a group of young animals (penguins) that are cared for in a colony. Basically, a creche is a nursery for baby penguins, where they are cared for by the community.

A crèche makes it easier for the adult penguins to care for their offspring, because the parent can leave for a few hours and go hunt for food and can leave their baby in the care of a few adult penguins who remain at the colony. The parent penguins can take turns watching over the communities young penguins.
